Rally’s ten-time Finnish champion Juha Salo will compete next season in the rally SM series and SM1 with the Skoda Fabia R5.
Juha Salo, 42, confirmed the stock of his next season on Facebook on Monday. During the 2015-2018 season, the Salo has successfully raced the SM-Series of the Rally of the Peugeot 208 T16 with its first race on the Skoda Fabia R5 car this summer in the last SM rally (Turku-Salo). The debut with a new car brought the fifth place to the overall race.
– Good ec days warmed my mind. The new car became more and more familiar. This competition raises ideas for the first time, which will be followed up with partners to build up. I’m not going to finish it because I think I still have to give this sport, Salo commented after the SM Series qualifying competition.
Salo drove 24 SM races with Peugeot during the four seasons, won the overall race seven times, climbed to the prize pool altogether 12 times and Finland’s championships came two in 2015 and 2016. In the Rally SM series this year Skoda Fabia R5 cars dominated in a sovereign manner. Seven of the seven races in Skoda were won by all seven of the 21 prize races that were placed in the races. Skoda drivers took 19.
The Rally SM Series season 2019 will start in the Rovaniemi neighborhood on the last weekend of January, the traditional Tunturiralli. Salo has won the Tunturiralli general race in its career six times in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016. Six profits make Salto the Tunturiralli history of the most successful driver of the times.
