Karting’s OK and Junior World Championships will be held next year at PowerPark, Alaharma.
In Karting, the OK and Junior World Championships will not run as a series of systems, but the fate of championships and other World Championships will be solved during one weekend. At the FIA World Council meeting last week in St. Petersburg, Russia was decided that the World Cup will be run next year in Finland. The competition is based on the PowerPark Alahärmä, whose CV already has a number of valuable presentations from previous years.
In the summer of 2017, the Kart World Championships were held in Alahärmä, and the blue-light tops organized in international renowns of various species convinced the FIA, in addition to its own organization, to always chair Jean Todt.
– The EM competition was a strong display of our expertise and a special thank you to the Powerpark. Finland’s position in autobahn is appreciated and therefore we should organize other value events besides Neste Rally. It would be important that we could continue to provide our karting drivers with a chance to test their skills against the world’s tops and learn about the international competition culture, AKK’s President Tatu Lehmuskallio stressed in AKK’s press release last spring.
“Many young people can not afford to build a big international tournament calendar, and therefore it would be of paramount importance that we could bring a top event to our drivers. At the same time, we could offer a unique event for families, background groups and the public, Lehmuskallio added.
Karting World Championships are held in Alahärmä on 5-8. September. The KZ World Championship is played by Italian Lonato (19-22 September). The OK-Class EM series comprises four races and are driven by the French Angerville, Belgian Genk, Kristianstad in Sweden, and Le Mans in France.
AKK will hold a media event on Tuesday for a major event on Tuesday in Helsinki.
