The Global Rallycross series, previously run in the United States, is now coming to Europe when the Austrian MJP Promotions acquired a series of brand rights for itself. The series will be launched by Global Rallycross Europe in Europe next year and in 2020 will also be expanded to other continents.
The competition calendar for the new series of debut season has now been announced. The season starts on 4-5. May on MJP’s own track, MJP Racing Arena, with a test test run. The first race will be run in France in late June. The opening screen will be tracked later. On the last weekend of July, the series will visit the cradle of Rallycross in Lydden Hill, England, where the journey will continue in Montalegre, Portugal, in August.
MJP Racing Arena is also honored to test one of the series of racing weeks before the final round of the “regular season”, which will be held in Nyirad, Hungary. The season will end in October in Germany, where the final race in Buxtehry is on the Estering track. At least for their races, the new series delights the rallycross fans already, as Lydden Hill, Montalegre and Estering are all the favorite tracks of fans that the World Cup has dropped out of their tournament calendar.
There are two races running every weekend of the competition, which means that during the five competition rounds a total of 10 competitions will be held. According to GRC’s announcement, driver news is expected next year. It is already certain that the series will include at least Finnish Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen, and ex-F1 driver Alexander Wurz. Blue-collar know-how is also found in the leadership of the series, actor GRC’s commercial leader Atte Varsta.
– The planning of the tournament calendar required a lot of effort and coordination to avoid overlapping with the World Series and the RallyX Series competitions. After signing an agreement with Estering, we are just waiting for you to sign a contract for the French race. We have concluded multi-year contracts with both Nyirad and Lydden Hilllinks, GRC’s CEO Max J. Pucher backs up.
A contract with the Estering line was signed this week.
– Max J. Pucher takes the rally in the Global Rallycross Europe series to a big step forward. We are very pleased to be part of and part of it, and we will do our best to ensure that this series will get the success it deserves, “said Andreas Steffen, a spokeswoman for the Estering Track.
GRC’s TV offerings for a series of competitions have been handled in an excellent way. The direct stream of Eurosport Player offers a tour week on both days. On Sunday morning, the Eurosport 1 channel shows a half-hourly mass of compositions on Saturday’s events. Sunday’s finals are scheduled for one hour on Eurosport 1 or 2 and Tuesday’s 25-minute consecutive broadcast on GRC’s social media packs all the events.
